The European standard “Services offered by the hearing aid professional”, CEN 380

For many hard of hearing persons the hearing aid represents the absolutely fundamental need. Without a well fitted hearing aid, most of us cannot work and earn our living. However, we know that in Europe there are wide gaps in the standard of hearing aid professional service, when comparing different countries. As a step towards a leveling of this service, the European standardization authority ANEC has adopted a standard called “Services of offered by the hearing aid professional”.  Here you can dowload the English version. Rehabilitation

We cannot enough stress that this standard provides a minimum level set for the service as a hearing aid professional. To fulfill the needs of a hard of hearing, the process has to involve a certain degree of rehabilitation. This will differ between individuals, as the both the degree of hearing loss and other circumstances will vary. The way the audiological care is provided, is also something that affects the situation.
